About HSNC University, Mumbai
A State Public University established in 2020, proud to host the AIU West Zone Inter-University Chess (Men) Tournament for the 2025–26 season.
Hyderabad Sind National Collegiate University (HSNC University), Mumbai — a State Public University — was set up on 11th June 2020 through a collaborative effort between the Government of Maharashtra and the Hyderabad (Sind) National Collegiate (HSNC) Board.
HSNC University is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) with the Hon'ble Governor of Maharashtra & Gujarat, Shri Acharya Devvrat as its Chancellor; eminent lawyer Mr. Anil Harish as its Provost; and Col. Dr. Hemlata K. Bagla as its Vice Chancellor.
HSNC University, Mumbai comprises renowned Mumbai colleges such as Hassaram Rijhumal College of Commerce & Economics (H.R. College) as its lead college, with Kishinchand Chellaram College of Arts, Science & Commerce (K.C. College) and Bombay Teachers' Training College (BTTC) among its constituent colleges.
With over 12,390+ students enrolled currently, HSNC University has significantly enhanced its academic portfolio in just five years, launching eight Schools across commerce, law, management, performing arts, engineering, yoga and wellness, and more.

1On arrival, the participating universities will report directly to the accommodation venue. The accommodation details will be shared after 15th February 2026.

2For document verification, submit the following documents attested by the university competent authority in the sequence mentioned below; only through the appointed team Manager/Coach.
- AIU Annual subscription membership letter/fee payment receipt
- AIU West zone Chess (M) Tournament registration fee receipt
- Typed Eligibility Performa of participants (Four copies - Annexure-I)
- 10th Class passing certificate (as DOB proof)
- 10+2 (Std 12) Class certificate of Marks
- Current Semester Marksheet
- Degree Certificate (If applicable)
- Aadhar Card
- Identity card issued by the University
- ABC - id
- Migration certificate (if applicable)
Note: Over-written eligibility performa will not be accepted -
3All expenses towards local transport shall be borne by the participating university.

4Banned substances/articles are strictly prohibited at accommodation and tournament venue. The participants should not perform any Anti-Social Act/Practices during their stay and tournament.

5Legal action will be taken against any misconduct. The instructions at the place of the tournament are compulsory to be obeyed for harmonious and long-lasting relationships among the participating Universities.

6The Organizers will not be responsible to bear any responsibility for any financial loss or survival loss and injuries during the tournament.

7It is mandatory to submit the travel plan. (Annexure-II)

9The Organizing Secretary reserves the right to make changes in the competition programme, if any as & when required. However, prior intimation will be given to the participating university.Changes communicated in advance via official channels

TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS

1The said tournament will be conducted as per All India Chess Federation (AICF) rules & regulations adopted by AIU.

2All teams should report in proper uniform with playing kit for their respective sessions at least 45 minutes before commencement.

3All the participating universities are hereby informed to mandatorily rent the chess set and clock from the organizing university.

4The team Captain is required to submit their fixed board order (Annexure-III) prior 30 minutes of the round.

5Teams should be submitting their player's current ratings, as per 1st March 2026 (classical rating).

6All the Players, Team Managers, Coaches whenever asked for are required to produce their respective identity card provided/issued by their University during the entire period of the said tournament.

7Use of Mobile Phones, Wrist Watches, Communication devices, and any other type of electronic devices are strictly prohibited at the Playing Area. If any such devices are found to be used by any team during the games, the team shall be awarded zero points immediately.

8Any Coach/Manager should not be found in the playing area during the rounds.

9Team Composition: Each team participating in the tournament shall consist of four main players (A, B, C, D) and two reserve players (E, F). To facilitate the seeding process, it is mandatory to submit the FIDE ID's and FIDE ratings (classical ratings) of the players.

10Default Time: The default time for a team to arrive at the game is 30 minutes; any team arriving after this time limit will forfeit the game.

11System of Play: The tournament will follow the Team Swiss System in accordance with the FIDE Laws of Chess. It will comprise nine rounds, although the exact number of rounds may be adjusted depending on the total number of entries. Each game will be played with a time control of 60 minutes per player, with an additional 30-second increment per move starting from move one.

12Standings and Tie-Break Rules: In determining standings, match points will be awarded as follows: a win earns 2 points, a draw earns 1 point, and a loss earns 0 point. In the event of a tie, the following criteria will be used to break the tie

Sonneborn Berger EMGSB (applying Unplayed Round Management)17. Scores and Scheduled Strength Combination (SSSC); still the decision will depend on Chief Arbiter.

18Forfeits Points: For games; where a team receives a walkover, match points of 2 and game points of 4 will be awarded. In cases; where a team is assigned a bye, match points of 2 will be given, but no game points will be awarded.

19The Captains are supposed to submit result sheets carefully. Except for Captain no other player should be found in the playing hall after the game is over.

20Further details of the tournament rules and regulations will be provided in the Managers Meeting.
